My husband and I have had the great pleasure of working with Cynthia Stern de Atri and her team at DRP International Design for the past three years. She is the ultimate professional who oversees every detail of design and construction to perfection.

With her impeccable taste, mindful eye on the budget and tireless devotion to the task she has totally transformed our Del Mar home. Using simple inspiration pieces and discussions of our needs and desires she has created a modern but very warm environment for us to live and entertain.

Second only to her beautiful design is the incomparable team of sub-contractors Cynthia brought into our home. Because her knowledge of construction is so vast, she brings in only the best craftspeople whom she personally oversees on a daily basis.

Cynthia is not only extremely gifted at what she does, but is also extremely easy to work with.

Cynthia Stern has impeccable taste and a flawless eye for color and detail.  At the same time, she works comfortably within budget, and even where there is no clearly defined monetary limit, she makes every effort to cut costs without sacrificing quality.  Ms. Stern has decorated 2 houses for my husband and me, as well as my husband’s office space.  Her selections for each of these projects have been a perfect reflection of our style and preferences.  In addition, she has guided us through the decision-making process with care and kindness.  I trust implicitly her ability to design and decorate both living and working spaces.  In sum, she is a delight to work with.

I have had bad experiences with designers, so it was with some trepidation that I agreed to work with Cynthia on my bathroom remodel. She sensed my anxiety and offered to do the project for a flat fee, which gave me some reassurance. In hindsight, this was a great decision. First, she helped guide my decisions regarding things that I knew very little about, such as faucets. Second, and probably most important, she has a cadre of talented, reliable workmen that will give 110% to your project because they want to continue to work with Cynthia. Last, Cynthia will negotiate great prices for your building materials. I don’t always take all of her suggestions, but she deals with this without any of the drama her profession is known for. I’ve done two projects with Cynthia, both on budget and with outstanding results.

DRP International Design helped us create cabinets, select large pieces of furniture, and do many other home improvements. Our project was challenging, because everything had to blend with the existing style. We love what Cynthia has done and would highly recommend her. She is very experienced, provides good options and advice, and has straight forward pricing policies.

My wife and I have been extremely satisfied working with everyone at DRP. Cynthia has been nothing short of amazing in helping us find and sort through options for our home. We have no reservations in recommending her and her team!

We recently moved to our new house which needed quite a bit of interior design renovation. Noel Carlson came highly recommended by a friend, so we brought her in to help. It was definitely a smart decision on our part. Noel was wonderful to work with; she really listened to our goals and provided us with sound ideas to bring our wishes to fruition, she coordinated getting us countless samples to make sure we saw enough choices, and she worked seamlessly with her team of vendors to make sure everything got done on time and within budget. We absolutely recommend Noel and DRP, and look forward to bringing them back in on any of our future projects.

Cynthia was very professional. We underwent a major renovation and she provided solutions to construction issues that we wanted to accomplish but were originally told was not possible. As it turned out it was possible. I would not hesitate to hire Cynthia and her team from DRP International again.

DRP conducted an extensive remodel for our 6000+ sq ft home. We wanted to update our home with a more modern look. The challenge was to integrate modern decor with some of the existing features of the home, and thus keep the scale of the remodel down. We found that DRP did an excellent job of this. I would say of Cynthia that creative vision seems to come effortlessly to her; and that she also works incredibly hard to see that vision through. This combination of originality and detail focus is hard to come by, and I think she has it in spades.

Our home was beautiful to start out with, but highly unoriginal. It was a luxury spec house, but a spec house nonetheless. Now it is highly original. We are happy with our modern kitchen, updated paint and carpeting colors and textures, dark wood floors. Its hard to describe, though, how hard Cynthia worked to make small updates that had a dramatic effect on the look of the house: for instance, finding the right stain for the banisters on our stairs rather than replacing them altogether achieved the desired effect at a much lower cost. Picking out the right console for our media room transformed the room from just another media room into something much more modern and original. Cynthia also redid our fireplaces from nice but ubiquitous granite-and-gas-logs to modern showpieces.

We are very happy most of all with the way all of DRP’s changes “flow” together. The home seems like it was “meant to be” with us in it — an extension of our tastes. I don’t think there is a better conclusion one can have to a remodel.
